A New Home For BCM

In 2017, the BCM at ULM began the long process of constructing a new building to replace the original built in the early 1970s. Alumni, friends and ministry partners gathered in March of last year to break ground for the new construction. This spring, the building has taken form and is slated for completion in May 2018.

Take a look at what’s been going on at 1005 University Avenue:

The exterior of the building is virtually complete, with awnings and decorative brick installed as a final touch.

Electricity and all utilities have been installed, and a welcome desk, counters and cabinetry have been added to the lobby and kitchen.

Exposed beams do double duty as structural support and impressive architectural design in the lobby. 

Demolition of the BCM house adjacent to the building will provide a grassy area for future picnics, outdoor games and student lounging. Interior construction on new apartments to house eight students and interns will take place over spring of 2018. Current BCM students will volunteer labor to hang drywall and complete cosmetic additions.

The BCM sold commutative bricks to alumni, friends, students and ministry partners to raise additional funds in support of the building construction. These bricks will pave the entrance to the new building and welcome the next generations of Warhawks.

The first coats of paint were added to the walls just last week, and the interior doors, beams and trusses received their final touches with dark wood stain.
